English Language Development (ELD)
Selma Unified School District is committed to helping every English learner develop the language skills needed to succeed in school and beyond. English Language Development (ELD) is a state-required instructional program designed to help students build proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English while continuing to learn grade-level academic content.
Our ELD program provides targeted instruction that supports students at every stage of English language development. Through both designated ELD and integrated ELD instruction, students receive meaningful opportunities to strengthen their English skills throughout the school day while engaging in rigorous, standards-based learning.
At Selma Unified, we value the linguistic and cultural diversity our students bring to the classroom. We partner with families and educators to ensure every English learner has the support, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive academically and confidently participate in school and their community.
