• VALLEY REGIONAL OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAM

Valley Regional Occupational Program together with Selma High School administrators and teachers work to provide excellent career technical education to students and resources to the ROP teachers. The goal is to develop students’ academic and technical skills so they will be prepared for employment and postsecondary education.

Valley ROP works closely with Selma High School administration to ensure that pathways and courses are aligned with the local community colleges.  All Valley ROP teachers are provided with a current curriculum that includes a variety of components. The curriculum is completely revised every three years by the teachers, their advisory committees, the Valley ROP Director of Instructional Services, and Selma High School learning directors. With the rapid changes in technology, annual modifications are necessary to keep pace with changes in software, best practices, and equipment specific to each classroom. These modifications are done through the information and recommendations provided by Industry Advisory Committees, Valley ROP, and Selma High learning directors, and they are driven by student interest.

Valley ROP provides support to Selma High by creating strong partnerships with the local community colleges by building pathways and a Dual Enrollment agreement that benefit Selma High School students for college advancement and preparation.  Selma High offers over 25 ROP dual enrollment classes with Fresno City College or Reedley College.  Valley ROP also has articulation agreements in several pathways with San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) and The Art Institute (AI).
