Welcome to Heartland Alternative Education!
Selma Unified School District has an established alternative education system consisting of three distinct schools which work collaboratively: Selma Independent, Heartland opportunity school (7th- 9th) and Heartland Continuation High School. Each has its role in serving a targeted population. Each of these schools provides an alternative to the comprehensive school settings of Selma Unified School District. Students attending Heartland Alternative education are provided a smaller learning environment characterized by closer more frequent monitoring and responses to student academic achievement. Our program enables students to accrue credits at a faster rate than traditional high schools while maintaining the same graduation requirements.
It is the goal of Heartland Alternative Education to meet the educational needs of our students, whether that means returning to their home school to complete their diplomas, or earning their diplomas on our campus. In addition to preparing students for a high school diploma, Heartland Alternative Education promotes personal responsibility and provides the support students require to become educated, productive and responsible citizens.
